TheMinecraftMob Vote has been around for a number of years, and throughout that time, it has received a jumbled mix of praise andcontroversyfrom its playerbase. While it’s uncertain how Mojang will address the community’s grievances in the future, history infers that more content will be added to the game as time goes on.
If you’ve been out of the loop for a while, or find the sheer amount of mobs in the game overwhelming, to the point where you may’t tell what’s old or new anymore, this “winners overview” of every community mob vote to date will help out with that.

Although Pandas were the winners of a popularity poll in China, and shortly thereafter announced as one of the new mobs coming to Minecraft during Minecon Earth 2018, they were not part of an official Mob Vote, so they’re not being included in this list.
The Great Hunger
The Wildfire
After three rounds of voting, Phantoms emerged victorious in 2017s community Mob Vote, winning by a narrow, four percent margin. It left The Great Hunger, a voracious mob with camouflaging abilities and a hunger for enchanted items, as a close runner-up, earning 48 percent of votes in the final round.
At first glance, Phantoms seem like a cheap annoyance that give players more of an incentive to sleep in their beds every few in-game nights. Thankfully, being an insomniac has major perks; upon slaying a Phantom, there’s a chance you’ll receive a Phantom Membrane.

These Membranes have two main uses:
Although it’s stimulating to imagine what Minecraft would be like if The Great Hunger won the vote instead, especially given its potential to add or remove enchantments from items, Phantoms nonetheless offer valid gameplay mechanics that support and encourage exploration as well as sleep.
Moobloom
Iceologer
After Mooblooms got eliminated in the first round, the Glow Squid beat the Iceologer in the last round of 2020s community Mob Vote, earning nearly 53 percent of all final votes. In terms of mechanics, Glow Squids aren’t much different from regular squids; they can freely swim against ocean currents, and aimlessly wander the open seas.
Ultimately, there are only two key differences that Glow Squids bring to the table:

While Glow Squids might seem underwhelming or boring to some, it’s worth noting that each mob proposed at the beginning of this Mob Vote was practically a slightly altered versions of already existing mobs; the Iceologer, a blue-skinned villager, and the Moobloom, a yellow, flowery alternative to Mooshrooms.
Glare
Copper Golem
With the Glare paling in comparison to its competitors, that left the Allay and the Copper Golem in the final voting round. Receiving just over 54 percent of all votes, the Allay secured its place in the game during Minecraft Live: 2021.
Allays are essentially small, flying, fairy-like helpers that lack any semblance of object permanence, wandering aimlessly until you give them an item to hold. Once given an item, like Redstone or coal, Allays seek out that same item in a small area, collecting and delivering it to you.

Allays can hold up to a stack of the item they are seeking, and respond to note blocks. If a note block emits a sound, Allays within a 16 block radius will be drawn to that block instead of you, dropping the items they’ve picked up near it.
While Copper Golems were exciting “younger siblings” of Iron Golems, Allays undeniably offer creative and expansive ways to further automate various tasks and systems in the game.

The Rascal
The Tuff Golem
In a single, 24-hour round where over three million votes were cast, the Sniffer won by a landslide against the Rascal and the Tuff Golem, accounting for 55 percent of all votes in 2022’s community Mob Vote. Given the options available, the Sniffer likely won due to being the most dynamic in terms of mechanics and functionality.
Sniffers will not spawn naturally; it’s up to you to pull them out of extinction by finding and uncovering their long-lost eggs buried under Suspicious Sand blocks in ocean ruins. Once you’ve hatched your Sniffllet and it has grown up to be an adult, it will get to work, sniffing around for Ancient Seeds.
Once an Ancient Seed is found, Sniffers dig into the ground until they find either a Pitcher Pod or Torchflower Seeds, which can be used to:
Crab
Penguin
2023’s community Mob Vote was much more neck and neck, with each mob receiving just under, around, or over a third of the total votes. Ultimately, the Armadillo won by just shy of a ten percent margin, with the Crab securing second place and the Penguin landing in last.
Armadillos like warm environments, and thus, are native to Savanna biomes. As they shuffle about, they might shed a part of their shell and drop Scutes, a brown, stackable resource that is used for crafting wolf armor, which will give your pups some added protection.
If you’re an avid builder that was really hoping the Crab would’ve won to get some extra block placement distance in survival, who knows, maybe Mojang will add crabs, or that same mechanism, in the future.
