Tekken 8’s cast is already proving incredibly popular, so it makes sense that fans want some more info on their new mains. However, the game’s director, Katsuhiro Harada, isn’t here to indulge us, giving us a very technical answer when asked how old all of the fighters would be in the new sequel.
According to Harada, every single character in Tekken 8, and by extension,Tekkenas a whole, is 30 years old. Simply put, that’s because the series is 30 years old, which means that the characters would be too. So, until further notice, we have to accept this as canon. And wow, some characters are ageing a whole lot better than others.
“Can you tell us how old all characters are?” asks one fan, innocently enough. “They don’t have [an] age on their bio, I wanna know how old Reina is for example”.
While they initially got a bunch of other fans making fun of them for specifically asking for Reina’s age here, they also got a response from Harada himself. Not that he was shedding any light on this topic either, mind you.
Well, can’t argue with that, right?
Fans are having a whole lot of fun with information anyway, taking it at face value. That’s right, Heihachi is 30 now. Poor guy’s gone through it. Some of the characters really need to share their skincare routines though, they look great.
Putting that aside, Harada isn’t just using his page to troll fans. He also just revealed thatthe team is aware that the ranked leaderboard is full of cheaters, boosting their way to the top with fixed matches. He says that the devs are “currently dealing” with them, presumably combing through the top players and removing any records that were achieved illegitimately. It remains to be seen ifBandai Namcois able to keep on top of it all, since boosting isn’t a new form of cheating in the series, but at the very least, the team is aware that it’s happening.
Tekken 8 is out now, having launched on January 27, and is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
