While these free games might not have all the Pokeballs and whistles of the main franchise games, there is a lot more variety in what you may find.
From jumping simulator to match-3 games, a MOBA and even a mobile version of the trading card game, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy. Over the many years of success that the Pokemon franchise has enjoyed, there have been other free-to-play games, but we collected all the ones currently available for you to download and play today.

9Pokemon Sleep
You’ll Never Beat A Snorlax And That’s Okay
Calling Pokemon Sleep a game might seem like a bit of a reach for a lot of people. It’s a sleep-tracking app that has gamified a lot of elements, but it has plenty of game enough to make this list.
The more you sleep, and the better your sleep, the more Pokemon you’ll attract to your base and the more points and rewards you’ll earn to help you recruit even more Pokemon to your sleep sessions. The whole point of the game is to sleep well, which is a very passive way to play, but all the cute sleeping Pokemon makes it worth it. You aren’t doing anything else during that time anyway.

8Pokemon Magikarp Jump
Don’t Want To Let Them Be A Tragikarp
One of the rare Pokemon games that doesn’t feature a massive cast of collectible pocket monsters, Magikarp Jump focuses exclusively on finding, raising, and training the perfect Magikarp, one that can jump higher than any other Magikarp in the world.
This jumping sim goes to the extreme, sending your Magikarp into the upper stratosphere with its intense jumping skill. There’s not a whole lot else to the game outside of increasing stats and competing in jumping leagues, but it is still an adorable and silly little game to play for free.

7Pokemon Quest
Pokemon Has Never Looked Blockier
Another positively adorable Pokemon game, Pokemon Quest sends you out on little adventures with your collection of cubicle friends, working to find the perfect blend of friends for missions. Everything about this game has a positively charming vibe to it, making the whole experience a ton of fun.
Much of the core gameplay in Pokemon Quest is less focused on the questing, and more on discovering and powering up the right combination of skills, stats, and typings. Pokemon Quest relies heavily on resource management and a healthy amount of RNG, which can be a little off putting for some but still makes for a good time.

6Pokemon Shuffle
Gotta Match ‘Em All!
The Pokemon series has a long history of puzzle games, going all the way back to the Game Boy Color. Pokemon Shuffle continues the trend of match-3 games by having you move little Pokemon heads until you make a match of three similar Pokemon, who smile back at you with the cutest faces you’ve ever seen.
Pokemon Shuffle changes up the formula a bit by restricting the number of moves you have to complete missions, giving you the chance to capture a Pokemon once you beat it. Each little friend you capture gives you access to unique abilities and type advantages to help you clear missions.

5Pokemon Café ReMix
Too Cute To Stop Playing
From the same developer of Pokemon Shuffle comes Pokemon Cafe ReMix,quite possibly one of the cutest and most wholesome gamesPokemon has ever released. You’re the owner of a bakery and cafe and have to solve little puzzles to serve your Pokemon customers.
The more puzzles you beat, the more recipes you’ll unlock and learn new abilities. There’s a very soft aesthetic to the game and the designers clearly put a lot of love into detailing the various Pokemon-themed recipes. There are cakes that look like Eevees, Pikachu Curry, a layered Furret latte, and so much more to discover.

4Pokemon Go
The World Wide Phenomenon
Does everyone remember the halcyon days of Pokemon Go’s release? Walking around town, collecting the original 150 Pokemon, running whole city blocks because someone claimed they heard someone say they found a Snorlax near a park?
Pokemon Go has come a long way since those days and is still one of the best free-to-play Pokemon games available. All Pokemon that have been released in the main games have made their way to Pokemon Go, with a significant number of shiny Pokemon as well. With constant events and gyms and raids to battle, there’s more stuff than ever to do in the game while you walk around.

3Pokemon Masters EX
All Your Favorite Trainers Together On One Island
If you want to see some of your favorite trainers and their partner Pokemon have their stories developed and see them interact with trainers that might never normally meet in the game or anime, Pokemon Masters EX is the perfect game for you.
Practically, the entire cast of main trainers from the games and anime is featured in the game as collectible characters you can battle with. As a gatcha game there’s certain elements that aren’t going to resonate with everyone, but with an enjoyable story that dives deeper into many key trainers from the show, it’s an immensely fun time.

2Pokemon Unite
Now You Can Blame Your Losses On Your Teammates
Pokemon’s first take on the tried and true MOBA archetype is a fantastic venture into a truly unique style of Pokemon battles.Pokemon Unite lets you pick your favorite Pokemonand battle them in a team of four for dominance in an arena.
You can fight the enemy team, of course, but the way you win is by defeating various Pokemon that are positioned around the arena, some granting EXP while others give you and your teammates buffs.

1Pokemon TCG Live
No Trading Here, But Plenty Of Card Game Fun
The Pokemon Trading Card game has been a huge staple in the Pokemon franchise since its release back in 1996. Since then, there have been a few iterations of video game versions of the trading card game, with Pokemon TCG Live being the latest seemingly here for the long run.
The great thing about the Pokemon TCG is that each physical pack you buy includes a code that you can redeem in the digital game. While there are some diversions from other digital card games, it is relatively easy to craft a deck or two while being completely free to play, making it a great way to experience the game on your mobile device.
