Ed Boon has essentially confirmed that Noob Saibot is eventually going to be coming toMortal Kombat 1, following leaks earlier this year that claimed he was a key part of a story expansion.
Even before it was officially announced, Mortal Kombat 1 has been quite the leaky ship. Not only did we hear about the whole roster and story mode events before launch, but dataminers also uncovered evidence that seemed to show us what was going to be added to the game post-launch over the next few years, including some of the planned DLC characters and dialogue relating to them.
Some of the characters that are rumoured to be coming to Mortal Kombat 1 in the future include Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian, and Terminator 2’s T-1000, of all things.
One of the most interesting things to come from the leaks is dialogue relating to a new story chapter, which seems to take place at Scorpion and Harumi’s wedding. Dialogue from the new story segment indicates that Titan Havik corrupts Sub-Zero and ends up turning him into Noob Saibot, something that Ed Boon has seemingly just confirmed is the case.
Over on Twitter,Ed Boon shared a Reddit post that noted that Mortal Kombat 1is just two characters away from having every male playable ninja from the series in one game. While sharing it, Ed said, “Just wait”, which is clearly him saying that Noob Saibot and Chameleon, the two ninjas that aren’t currently in MK1, are going to be joining in the future at some point.
Although it could just be Boon doing his typical Twitter teasing thing (like when he shared an image that added evidence to the theory that Ghostface could be coming to Mortal Kombat 1), all of the story mode and dialogue leaks have seemed legitimate so far. In fact, the trailers we’ve received for Omni-Man over the past few months have contained the same interactions and leaked content that we saw in those datamines, adding even more evidence to Noob eventually being in the game.
If you haven’t seen the story expansion leaks and don’t want to be spoiled any further then you should stop reading here, but from what we can tell from the dialogue, it seems that Titan Havik is to blame for Sub-Zero’s transformation this time around, rather than him being killed and resurrected by Quan-Chi. We also know from leaks that Chameleon is joining the roster as a Kameo fighter but has seemingly been turned into a female ninja in Liu Kang’s new timeline.
