This guide will cover what the Dark Protocol event is, explain how the new Killswitch mode works, and cover every reward you can earn during this two-week event.

What Is The Dark Protocol Event?
The Dark Protocol is a seasonal event that runs from October 31 to November 14.This event will host a new game type calledKillswitch, a 12v12 variant of King of the Hill with a twist. A secondary objective is also present during every Killswitch match. Capture it, and your team will begin creating synthetic humans as reinforcements, AI-controlled allies significantly more durable than your average soldier and make taking the control point far easier.Earning ribbons in this game mode will unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards, rotating each week while Dark Protocol is active.
Killswitch
Killswitch is a 12v12 infantry-focused game type where two teams fight over a central control point, similar to modes like King of the Hill and Hardpoint in other FPS titles. At the start of each match, two objectives will spawn on the map: a control point and the Forge. The control point works as a flag in Conquest. Get within the point’s radius to capture it, then hold the line against enemy forces. Defend the point long enough to upload the necessary data, scoring your team one point.
Taking over the point will prove challenging if the enemy team gets there first, which is when theForgecomes in.Whichever team takes control of the Forge will start creating synthetic soldiers called Geists. These AI drones are far more durable than your average specialist and prefer to use melee weapons. Geists will bias attacking or defending the objective when possible. Keep hold of the Forge to outnumber the opposition, and fight to control the objective as it appears. The first team to successfully capture and defend five zones will win the game.

Earning Ribbons
Every reward tied to the Dark Protocol event is earned throughribbons.Ribbons are commendations you’ll receive throughout a match for completing certain tasks such as spotting targets, killing enemies, or repairing vehicles. For those unfamiliar with the Ribbon commendation system, there are five types of ribbons you can earn throughout a match, each with three tiers.
