The Crime Lord Origin inWarhammer 40,000: Rogue Traderuses quick thinking to turn every situation to their advantage. Their signature ability, Sure-Fire Plan, makes critical moves all the more effective. With the right Archetypes and gear, the Crime Lord is perfect for a sniper build capable of picking off foes with one well-placed shot after another.
Safe behind cover, a sniper Crime Lord allows for incredible single-target damage output; enough to drop most non-boss enemies in a single turn. If that sounds like your kind of build, read on - we’ve picked all the best choices at character creation for this criminal mastermind.

Homeworld
Fortress World
A military-themed Fortress World might seem like an odd choice for a Crime Lord character, but the abilities granted by this choice are phenomenal for sniping. Theextra Perceptionhelps to empower Sure-Fire Plan along with the Archetype abilities you’ll be choosing later, and some extra Willpower doesn’t hurt.
The most important reason to take Fortress World for your Crime Lord is theNever Stop Shootingability. Each time you kill an enemy - which should be every turn - there is a chance that you’llget a bonus attack on your next turn.Snipers are limited by their slow rate of fire, which playing a Fortress Worlder will help offset.

Spare Magazine, a Talent you may take as you level up, eliminates the slow reload of most sniper rifles for longer combats.
Archetype
Operative / Bounty Hunter
Operative gameplay takes some getting used to, but you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice asmany of your early companions use this Archetype. It might seem a bit lopsided to also make the Lord Captain an operative, but Talents that come as you progress in ranks - notablyPrecise AttackandPerfect Spot- are critical for a sniper build.
Analyze EnemiesandExpose Weaknesscombo well with Sure-Fire Plan to inflict double debuffs - defensive penalties from Expose Weakness and offensive penalties from Sure-Fire Plan. Always check at the beginning of the Lord Captain’s turn whether a shot will kill your intended target without help; if that’s the case, use Analyze Enemies with Sure-Fire Planon another target afterward to set up your allies for success.

Your Crime Lord will be a deadly sniper by the time you finish the Operative Archetype, and when you progress to Bounty Hunter you may useHunt Down The Preyto gain critical hit rate and damage bonuses.Prioritize killing Tier 3 higher enemies, indicated by the Roman numeral on their Initiative marker at the left side of the screen.
Characteristics
Ballistics Skill, Perception, and Intelligence
It’s only natural that you’ll want a high Ballistics Skill for your sniper character;put as many points as you may into it at character creation. You don’t need to do much more as you level up, though; an extra ten points or so should give you all the accuracy you need.
The higher your difficulty settings, the better your enemies will be at dodging (and everything else).
Your Origin and Archetype Talents will all be based onPerceptionandIntelligence, so take every opportunity to increase those Characteristics. Whenever you may increase their Characteristic Bonuses by hitting the next tens digit, you should do so.
These Characteristics will make your Lord Captain great atLore, Tech-Use, Logic, andAwareness.Pasqal can feel a bit redundant because of this, so eitherspec the Tech-Priest for meleeor have him snipe side-by-side with the Lord Captain.
