There are many ways to get defeated inArk: Survival Ascended, but getting hit by a dinosaur until your health bar drains is the most common one. If you’ve played the game for a while, you’ve most likely been ganged up on by a group of Raptors who continuously chomp on you with higher running speed as well.
They’re one of the most intimidating enemies you’ll encounter during the early game, but that also makes them one of the best tames in the game. After getting a good-level Raptor, you can easily win most of the combat scenarios you’ll find yourself in.
Raptor Taming Process
If you want to get yourself one of these violent creatures,you’ll first have to figure out a strategy to knock it out. Once you have enough Tranq Arrows to make one unconscious, you can use one of the following methods to make the process easier:
The dinosaur AI in Ark: Survival Ascended is quite good, and they’re programmed to avoid falling into these traps.
To make this work, you have to step on top of the ramp and thenjump into the trap once the dinosaur comes near you.
If you want to avoid using the ramp altogether, you’re able to alsopick the Raptor up with an Argentavis and simply drop it in the structure. Once you have the Raptor trapped, shoot it with Tranq Arrows until it goes unconscious and then put any type of Meat in its inventory to start the taming process.
Prime Meat is the best and the easiest way to get this donewithout losing too much effectiveness, but you may also do it with regular meat. Once the taming bar is complete, you can name and ride your Raptor wherever you want.
What Are Raptors Used For?
Once you get a Raptor, you’ll quickly realize their strengths and weaknesses. They’re one of the fastest creatures in the game,which makes them perfect for traveling long distances. However, their lack of carrying capacity prevents you from getting a bunch of items from one side to the other.
However, the best part about this creature is its ability to outshine in combat. Its quick attacks and pounces can make an enemy struggle to find an opening. Moreover,this is one of the few dinosaurs that can jump once tamed in the game, which also makes them perfect for escaping an apex predator.
