After the tutorial trial and a pretty easy second episode,Apollo Justice: Ace Attorneyamps up the difficulty with its third case: Turnabout Serenade. This is an interesting case as it focuses heavily on the prosecutor of the game without placing him in an overtly antagonistic role.
It’s also quite an infamous case thanks to the mechanics you’re forced to work with. Scanning through video and using a music mixer might not be what you expect from a courtroom drama visual novel, but here we are, it seems!
The guide below covers the choices you’ll need to make in your responses and cross-examinations and nothing else - we’ll try to make this as spoiler-free as possible!
Day 1 Investigation
Watch the introductory scenes. There will be a few different conversations to read through, and the first viewing of The Guitar’s Serenade. Get used to this video, you’ll have seen it quite a few times before this episode is over.
Once you finally have control, you’ll be in Klavier’s Dressing Room.Talk to Klavierand thenMove to the Backstage Hallwayonce he leaves.
When we instruct you toTalkto someone, we meanexhausting their dialogue optionsso that there’s nothing new to speak about.
Here, you canTalk to Ema if you want, but she has nothing to say to you. Instead,Examine the red door on the right (Dressing Room #2)to progress the story. After the shocking scenes, you’ll be back in the Backstage Hallway.Move to Lamiroir’s Dressing Room.
Ema’s finally willing to chat, toTalk to her. Afterwards,Examine the blue broochon the left side of the screen, and thenpan the screen to the rightto examine the crime scene. Here,Examine the gun on the ground and then the body. You’ll take a closer look at him, and you shouldinspect his left hand and the smeared blood above his head.
Present the Revolver to Emaand thenTalkto her about it. When she leaves,Move to the Stagevia the Backstage Hallway.Talk to Klavier- when you reach the part about the missed cue, you’ll be presented with a mixing board and a tutorial on how it works.Present the second trackto pass this section.
Present the Key Ring to Klavierwhile you’re here, and thenTalk to him about his troubles. You’ll then be prompted to state whether or not you’ve noticed something about Klavier’s troubles - say that you have noticed andPresent the Lyrics Sheetas evidence. Finish the conversation byTalkingabout the song’s predictions.
Move to the Gavinners’s Dressing RoomandTalk to Lamiroirthere,Examine the postcardson the table in the middle of the room, and thenPresent the Brooch to her. Once this is all complete, return to theBackstage Hallway.
After the scenes,Talk to Emaif you like, butMove to the Stageand examine the tower to complete this section and move on to the first trial of the episode.
With this, the first day is over.
Day 2 Investigation
You’ll begin this day at the Wright Anything Agency.Talk to Trucy here, and then Valant when he shows up. You’ll be forced to watch the performance again - and this won’t be the final time, either. After this,Present the Video Tape to Valantto learn more about the trick.
After finishing your talks with Trucy and Valant,Move to the Detention CenterandTalk to Machi. You won’t get much out of him, but you’ll still need to go through the motions. Once finished,Move to SunshineColiseumvia the Wright Anything Agency and then to theBackstage Hallway.
Talk to Lamiroirhere, and thenPresent her with the Video Tape. This will get you theHeadsetas evidence, which you should immediatelyPresent to Lamiroirto learn more.
Move to the Stage and Talk to Valant, who you’ll find here. Now that you’ve Talked to Valant, you canExamine the grand pianoin the background to obtain the Switch.
Move to Lamiroir’s Dressing Room and Talk to Ema here.Present the Switchto her to identify its purpose and thenTalkto her about it.
Move out of the Coliseum now, and meetDaryanat Sunshine Coliseum.Talkto him to progress and unlockGavin’sOfficeas a location to visit.Movethere now.Examine the burned guitar and the small object encased in glass, and thenPresent the Igniter to Klavier. With all of this done, Talk to him about everything.
You may only be able to Present the Igniter to KlavierafterTalking to him about his guitar.
Once he leaves,Move all the way back to the Stageinside Sunshine Coliseum andExamine the closed instrument caseon the ground. After the scenes,Present the Replica to Lamiroir and then Talk to her about all four topics.
Once you’re back in the Detention Center and prompted to provide evidence of a secret,Present the Replica.Talk to Machiabout the Cocoon to end this section and get back to the courtroom.
