This also allows your Sim to earnSatisfaction Pointsbyspending time and socializing with their familywhen theywant to do so.

As such, both theHates ChildrenorLonertraits are poor choices for the Big Happy Family aspiration unless you’re looking for a challenge.

Hates Children makes Sims feel Tense or Angry around kids, while the Loner trait makes socializing in general that much more difficult on your Sim.

Reward Trait: Patriarch or Matriarch

Once you’ve finished the final task in the last milestone of the Big Happy Family aspiration in The Sims 4, your Sim will receive theMatriarch or Patriarchtrait, depending on their biology.

This reward traitis massively useful for family-oriented Sims, as it causesyour Sim’s children to learn skills faster when your Sim is nearby.

Although you’ll likely be an Elder Sim by the time this aspiration is complete, the reward trait offers apassive boostto your children’s skills just by your Sim being in the same room.

This is quite helpful if you’re playing a family with live-in grandparents, though, as this will keep your Sim around and offer those bonuses to children foras long as possible.

Every Milestone In The Big Happy Family Aspiration

In the table below, you’ll find all the information you need to complete the Big Happy Family aspiration in The Sims 4.

This includes each milestone itself, the tasks required to complete each milestone, and helpful tips and links to help you finish.

The first few milestones of the Big Happy Family aspiration are shared between this and the Successful Lineage aspiration - don’t worry if they look similar.

Readily a Parent

Become an Adult.

This one is simple - your Sim just needs to reach theYoung Adult life stage.

Spend 1,000 Simoleons on Kid’s Stuff.

Go into Build/Buy and head over to the Kid’s Room section. Between furniture, toys, and baby accessories, spend 1,000 total Simoleons to add children’s items to your Sim’s home.

Caregiver

Read to a Child for a Total of 2 Hours.

Have your Adult Sim open any bookcase and choose a Children’s Book, and then select “Read to Child.” Perform this action for two total hours, which, depending on the book you’ve chosen, may require just one book to complete.

Become a Parent.

Whether it’s via natural methods ofTrying for Babywith another Sim, adopting, or even having a Science Baby, to complete this task, you’ll simply need tohave your first child.

Socialize with Your Child 10 Times.

The type of interaction doesn’t matter for this - any social interaction with your child (during any stage of their life) will complete this task. You’ll likely complete this just by taking care of your children.

Loving Guardian

Be a Parent to a Child with 3 Friends.

Once your Sim’s child enters theChild life stageand heads off to school, they’ll begin socializing with their peers andmaking their first friends. Your Sim wants to see their child progress three different relationships to the Friend stage. This can be with any other Sim, so long as your Child Sim considers them their friend.

Be Friends with 3 of Your Children.

Not only does this task require your Sim to have three total children (a pretty sizable jump from the “become a parent” task from the previous milestone), but they’d like to progress their relationships with three of their own children so that these children consider them a Friend.

Have a Child Get Married.

As your children grow up, they become their own Sims with goals, passions, and relationships. Have your Sim’s child enter a romantic relationship and eventually get married to another Sim. Teens can date and enter romantic relationships, but Sims must be Young Adults or older to get married, meaning your Sim will likely haveaged quite a bitbefore this goal is complete.

Big Happy Family

Socialize with Your Child or Grandchild 10 Times.

Whether it’s your child, or the child they went on to have, your Sim would like to chat ten total times with either their child or any of their grandchildren. There are no specifics for which types of socializing you’ll need to do, so long as you’re actively socializing with either your child or grandchild.

Have 4 Grandchildren.

It doesn’t matter if it’s one of your Sim’s children having four children or their own, or a few children having four total children between them - your Sim just needs to be denoted as a grandparent to four other Sims in the family tree.

Become Good Friends with 4 Children or Grandchildren.

Good Friends is a rather high relationship status, but your Sim would like this closeness with their children and grandkids! To get there, you’ll need to spend ample time socializing with your family to continuously increase their relationships. These four relationships need to exist simultaneously.

You’ll all but need to be an Elder by the time the Big Happy Family aspiration is complete, but those players seeking solid family-style gameplay would do well to give their Sims this aspiration to make the most of their family bonds.
