The most important part of making a base in this game is having it in the right location. You will need a place that offers some form of natural protection and ideally comes with some good resources alongside it.
This list will rank some of the best base locations in Sunkenland, based on the quality of natural protection they offer and the resources they provide. Some of these locations may need to be conquered bydefeating some NPCs, while others come with no resistance.
9Water Base
For The Raft Fans
Although a lot of players seem not to recommend it, a water base can be a good strategy if you want complete control. Building a base on the water will give you full visibility around yourself. You will be able toeasily spot any intruders heading towards your way as they slowly swim across to attack.
However, these bases also come with some disadvantages, such as raiders easily being able to destroy your foundations, which can cause your whole structure to crumble. You will also need to have a lot of materials if you want to make a complete base in the water as there will be no natural terrain to help you out.
8Trading Outpost
Keep The Trader Close
Trader’s Island is basically just a floating platform near your spawn, which is the reason why many players choose to build their bases there. The proximity to the Trader means that you will easily be able to trade for resources if you choose to have your base here.
This island also has some natural protection in the form of pontoons which block the mutants from raiding easily, but these won’t be of much help against higher-level raiders. Taking all of its factors into account, this probably isn’t the best place to build a permanent base, but its closeness to the spawn and the Trader makes ita great starting location.
7Rubber Duck Island
A Resource Haven
One of the main advantages of building a base on Rubber Duck Island is the large amount of iron ore that can be found here. There are also some rock formations here that can be cool to build around as they can also provide decent cover from raiders.
There is a lot of flat land on this island which many players prefer, asit makes building a little less complicated. You can easily swim to this island from spawn, and start setting up your base soon after.
6Ruins Island
Build A Base Among The Ruins
As the name suggests, Ruins Island is a small island which has plenty of broken structures and walls on it. Once you manage to capture this island from its Slaver inhabitants, you’re able to make a decent base using the pre-existing buildings as a support.
While the broken structures of this island can help at times, they can also come in the way of your builds, and you will have to adjust your base accordingly. The only problem with building here is that the Slavers are very hard to beat, andyou will need to have a good arsenal of weapons if you want to stand a chance against them.
5Castaway Island
Simple And Effective
More commonly known as the starter island, the Castaway Island is a surprisingly great place to build your base. Not only does this base come with plenty of rock cover, but it also has a wide variety of trees that can be used for gathering wood. You can also choose to let these trees stay up to provide some extra cover.
Another obvious advantage of making a base on this island is that you won’t have to travel far from your spawn. This means thatyou can start working on your base right after you have spawned in and can start preparing for the raids quickly.
4Green Isles
A Pre-Built Fort
The Green Isles is also an island that can be tough to take over but is fully worth the effort. There are already plenty of walls and barricades on this island which can be further solidified to keep all the raiders out. This place comes with a ready-made blueprint for a good base, and all you need to do here is work on improving its quality.
There are also a very large amount of copper ores on this island along with a decent bit of tree cover as well.
3Submerged Downtown
The Biggest Landmass In The Game
The Submerged Downtown is one of the biggest landmasses in Sunkenland. While building your base here is a good choice, it can be tough to start off as the whole island is full of Mutants. Once you do manage to take over this place, then you canuse the large amount of resources it provides to your advantage.
Take plenty of weapons, ammo and medicine before heading into the Submerged Downtown as it is filled with deadly Mutants.
The large size of this island also gives you plenty of building options, and you’re able to choose if you want to have a beach house or one among the trees. There are also a lot of buildings on this island that can be looted, although they don’t really provide much help for setting up base.
2Small Rock Island
Small But Amazing
This island comes with a small mutant population, but if you can manage to defeat them, then you will have an amazing location to build a base on. Building your base on the side of the slopes that lead to the rock will make your life very easy asall the raiders will have to climb uphill and won’t be able to flank you.
This island comes with a lot of trees which can be used for gathering wood. There is also a high supply of iron ore which can be found here, which is incredibly useful in crafting tools. There are also a lot of sunken buildings towards the north of this island which are further useful for gathering supplies.
1The Clifton Outpost
The Safest Base Location
This island will be swarming with mutants when you come across it, but it can be a great location for a base if you manage to conquer it.There is already an elevated outpost on this island, which can be further built upon to make a solid and complex layered base.
There are plenty of copper and iron ores present along this island which are going to come in handy, especially as they keep respawning after a while. The availability of a pre-built platform along with plenty of resourcesmakes this one of the best base locations in the game.
