To fight giant monsters, we built giant robots. Pacific Rim doesn’t shy away from what it is - big freaking robots called jaegers punching big freaking kaijus in the face. Perhaps that’s why it has received the cult following it has - that, and the slow lumbering movement to give these jaegers and kaijus a larger than life feeling. It was so well received that it’s a surprise we haven’t got a second movie yet (fans will know that Pacific Rim Uprising doesn’t count).

While we’ll have to live with the fact that there’s probably going to be no more movies based on Pacific Rim, we can look back at what it’s given us. So crank up thatmain theme by Ramin Djawadi, because we’re counting down the best Pacific Rim action figures. Yes, most of them will be Gipsy Danger, but I don’t think you’ll mind (drift).

Neca Ultimate Gipsy Danger

Neca Ultimate Gipsy Danger

For when you need to fight the hurricane.

Gipsy Danger is what you can call the protagonist Jaeger of Pacific Rim. The Neca Ultimate version is 7-inches tall and comes with a number of kaiju killing accessories. Two plasma cannons to blast them to bits, two chin swords to slice them up, a reactor blast effect to fry them, and interchangable hands to punch their lights out.

The only nuclear powered Jaeger on the planet, Gipsy Danger is a walking, punching, weapon of kaiju destruction. After the tragic incident in Anchorage, which took the life of co-pilot Yancy Becket, Gipsy Danger was rebuilt as a last ditched effort by the Jaeger Program to hold the defenses till the Wall of Life program would be completed. However, the wall crumbled and Gipsy had to go back in action, piloted by Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori.

Tamashii Nations Gipsy Danger

Tamashii Nations Gipsy Danger

To fight monsters, we built monsters.

The Soul of Chogokin line by Tamashii Nations also features an action figure of Gipsy Danger, but this one is highly detailed and articulated. Along with plasma cannons, chain swords, and multiple LED lights, this one also comes with a massive oil tanker that Gipsy uses as a weapon in one of the movie’s most iconic scenes.

Once Raleigh and Mako figured out how to Drift without any issues, Gipsy Danger showed just what an unstoppable force it is, taking out three kaijus in one deployment. The last fight with Otachi was where the jaeger showed its latest upgrade, the chain sword. Not only did this juggernaut slice the kaiju in two, but it even survived a fall from the stratosphere. This Tamashii Nations action figure is the perfect collectible for fans of this jaeger.

Diamond Select Gipsy Avenger

Diamond Select Gipsy Avenger

There was a second movie, apparently?

Gipsy Avenger is the successor to Gipsy Danger in Pacific Rim: Uprising. This Diamond Select action figure does well to showcase the changes to the jaeger, along with the new chainsaw instead of the sword. It still features the plasma casters but comes with a sleeker look and great battle damage marks.

Neca Cherno Alpha

So, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there seems to be a second Pacific Rim movie. Unfortunately, it was nowhere near as good as the first, and fans have made it a meme, acting as if there was never a second movie at all. Gipsy Avenger was piloted by Jake Pentecost, who had to fight more than just kaijus. Hopefully, we’ll get a second Pacific Rim movie one day.

Neca Cherno Alpha

cue Soviet era orchestra music

Trust the Russians to make an absolute tank of a jaeger that is still functional after five generations. It is by far one of the coolest jaegers that we’ve seen in the movie, and most of it is down to just how stereotypically Russian it is. When the motherland needs saving from a kaiju, Cherno Alpha is ready to do its duty.

Neca Striker Eureka

Imagine a jaeger made by and for the motherland. Cherno Alpha is the last remaining Mark-1 in action but is kind of a stooge in Pacific Rim. But beware an old jaeger in a line of work where jaegers die young. The coolest thing about it is just how Russian it is, down to its design, the Soviet-era music every time it appears, and even its pilots - husband and wife duo, Aleksis and Sasha Kaidonovsky.

Neca Striker Eureka

There’s no problem that a barrage of chest missiles can’t solve.

Striker Eureka is, for all intents and purposes, the best jaeger ever made. This action figure by Neca shows the Mark-5 in all its glory, with a swappable chest plate that includes a barrage of chest rockets. It also comes with a nuclear payload accessory, in case there’s a rift at the bottom of the ocean that needs closing.

Neca Otachi (Flying Version)

Striker Eureka is the first and last Mark-5 jaeger ever built. It is piloted by father-son duo, Herc and Chuck Hansen. Not only is it the fastest jaeger ever built, but it also has the highest number of confirmed kaiju kills. Thankfully, the jaeger was close by when the Sea Wall was breached in Sydney, saving countless lives.

Neca Otachi (Flying Version)

When all else fails, throw it into space.

Otachi is the only kaiju on this list, and that’s because of the dramatic moment that it sprouted wings and yoinked Gipsy Danger into the stratosphere. It has a special stand that lets you display it perfectly and also fits a jaeger in its claws, just like in the movie.

Not too many of the kaijus in Pacific Rim are memorable, especially when compared to the jaegers. However, we can hardly forget the scene where Otachi sprouts wings and takes Gipsy Danger into the stratosphere, eventually getting sliced by the jaeger’s chain sword. This figure has a stand that will allow you to recreate the scene with the Neca Gipsy Danger mentioned above.
