The Wizards ofBaldur’s Gate 3are arguably one of the strongest classes in the game, thanks to their extreme versatility and their incredibly powerful gift of spell-scroll study. They’re such powerful spellcasters that they’re one of the number-one investitures when it comes to multiclassing in other classes.
Wizards can mesh well with any full spellcaster class, and with so many subclasses to choose from, they can find a use in any multiclass - even in those you wouldn’t primarily suspect. However, multiclassing out of wizard is rarely suggested except for the tiny morsel that are the following recommended strong pairings.

Sorcerer
As another full caster, Wizards pair very nicely with a Sorcerer multiclass thanks to the ability touse Metamagic and gain the benefits of their subclasses.
One of themost broken solo buildsin the game consists of anAbjuration Wizard 10, a Tempest Cleric 1, and a Draconic Blue/White Sorcerer 1.

With all of these paired, you can create abuild that allows you to stand in one place while reflecting all damageback onto your enemies.
This ispossible by stacking:
On the reverse side, anoffensive Wizard can pair nicely with the Sorcerer and Tempest Clericto create theinfamous Storm Sorcerer build(also known asthe “Lightning God” buildby the community).
Although this build primarily hinges on Sorcerer levels over Wizard, the Wizard’s key part to play lies in theability to vastly expand their repertoire of spells within their spellbookas well asadding spell slot rechargesthat can replenish spells for the Storm Sorcerer’s Tempestuous Magic and the Metamagic charges.

Evocation Wizards within the Cyromancy or Pyromancy fields also scale very nicely in damage with the Sorcerer in a perfect 6/6 combination. In most Evocation Wizard and Sorcerer builds the results are almost always explosive.
Cleric
Another fullcaster that meshes nicely with the Wizard, theCleric’s broad range in subclassesmeans that multiclassing with the Wizard can have a wide variety of multiclass builds.
On the side of the offensive, theTempest Cleric is always a very strong pairwith the Wizard class, thanks to the Wrath of the Storm and Destructive Wrath abilities.

Wizards with these spells can deal maximum damage on Lightning and Cold spells while also gaining access toCreate Waterfor double damage potential on Lightning and Cold damage.
Combined with items like theSnowburst Ring, you’re able to also create zoning opportunities to mess up enemy strategies, knock foes Prone, and take full control of the battlefield.

Life Clerics also pair very well with Divination and Abjuration Wizardsfor increased spell lists and full support viability.
Clean and balanced 6-6 builds work here, taking the best from both classes to create a bulwark of dependability on your team at all times.

With anexpanded list of utility spellslikeEnhance LeapandHaste, the Wizard can play anextremely valuable role on the backlinesof your team.
Fighter
Although the Wizard primarily pairs well with other full casters, there’s an unexpectedsynergy with the Fighter class. Particularly, the Wizard pairs wellwith the Eldritch Knight.
Combining the Eldritch Knight with theDivination or Conjuration Wizard in a 7-5 or 6-6 level splitallows for the ability to play the brokenWater-Mage build- and gives you the excuse to wear the very flatteringWavemother’s Robe.
StackingCreate Waterwith spells likeIce Stormor Lightning Bolt can result in huge damage amounts dealt.
Stacking with Action Surge for two actions in one turn and access toHaste, you can cast up to four spells in a single turn.
Alternatively, theEvocation Wizard 10-11 and Fighter 1-2can be a great combination foraccess to Action Surgeand a myriad of other boons.
With the Fighter allowing the Wizard toaccess all weapons and armoras well asConstitution Saving Throw proficiency, you’ll haveincreased survivabilitythat gives youaccess to Heavy Armourand improves your Concentration abilities.
Additionally, you’ll have access to anincreased amount of spellsas the Eldritch Knight also scales with Intelligence spellcasting.
No matter what build you choose to lean with at the end of the day, the Fighter remains the best non-spellcasting class to invest in when it comes to multiclassing.
