Arena is back inLeague of Legendswith a lot of new stuff. There are many more augments, new maps, unique items and even some resurrections. These additions gave the Arena meta quite a big shake-up, which has brought some strong new duos into the mix, including champions that weren’t even playable in the previous iteration of the game mode.
This mode is one of the best updates brought to League of Legends in recent years and might, hopefully, join ARAM as a second permanent game-mode alongside the classic Summoner’s Rift queues. Here are the best duos to get you some victories in Arena.

This list isn’t ranked. The duos were chosen based on personal experience and data from games played all over the world.
The only rule we followed was to avoid champion repetition (mostly to prevent making every entry feature Trundle). We also aimed for as much augment variety as possible.

8Leona And Yuumi
This is probably the most disgusting duo available in Arena right now. It is a fairly augment-dependent combo, but there are enough good choices to considerably minimize randomness. The gist of it is: both players fish as many augments as they can to make Leona immortal.
Yuumi never comes out unless she desperately needs mana, and you just win by default due to out-lasting your opponents. If all four champions are at or close to maximum health when the Ring of Fire starts to close, you’ve already won the round. This is for those people who enjoy winning at any cost.

Best Augments For Leona And Yuumi:
7Illaoi And Swain
We like to call this one the Circle of Death duo. Both these champions are extremely strong in Arena, and together they just become impossible to deal with, even if you don’t get best-in-slot augments.
You’ll have to be a bit patient, because smart people will try to run away from you, but the ring of fire is your friend here. Once your enemies have nowhere else to run, you’ll be smacking them with tentacles or electrocuting them with hand-lightning, and there’s nothing they can do about it.

Best Augments For Illaoi And Swain:
6Sylas And Zed
This duo requires quite a bit of mechanical prowess from both players, but is extremely fun and rewarding to pilot. These two champions are both extremely versatile and can adapt their builds according to which augments they get.
you’re able to go for the classic Summoner’s Rift builds, or you can head to the kitchen and cook some tasty Moonstone-Renewer immortal Sylas builds for a delicious dinner. You just need to get a bit lucky with your augments.

Best Augments For Sylas And Zed:
5Gragas And Jhin
Although it might not sound great on paper, this combo works like a charm. Much like Illaoi and Swain, these are two very strong Arena champions that become even stronger when combined. The thing is, with this duo, you will be the ones running.
The idea here is to stack as much damage and movement speed on Jhin as possible while Gragas goes for as much Ability Haste as he can. Alternatively, if you can get a bit lucky with your Augments, Gragas and become the real carry here and Jhin will then work best as a flashy distraction. Versatility is king in Arena.

Best Augments Gragas And Jhin:
4Mordekaiser And Veigar
This duo is unlocked through two new unique items: Sword of the Blossoming Down and Wordless Promise. It is extremely powerful because it isn’t really augment-dependent. You’ll want defensive augments on Mordekaiser and damage/AP ones on Veigar, but you don’t need specific ones to succeed.
The plan is to build Moonstone Renewer on Morde and go for a couple tanky items before finishing off with Wordless Promise and the new Sword. You’ll get 20 percent of Veigar’s 1000+ AP and be an immortal, permanently-shielded menace, while the little yordle runs around spamming his abilities.

Best Augments For Mordekaiser And Veigar:
3Alistar And Pyke
The ‘no resurrections for you’ combo. Alistar and Pyke might sound like a dumb duo (because it is), but it just works! Both champions have a very easy path to immortality; Alistar just through his pure existence and Pyke due to his W passive, and they have an endless supply of displacements.
You’ll want to just keep throwing people into the fire or pushing them out of the resurrection circle. It might just rival Leona/Yuumi in annoyance.

Best Augments Alistar And Pyke:
2Master Yi And Taric
Taric and Yi are not a new combo. They terrorized the previous iteration of Arena and, although they aren’t as prevalent as they were last time, they are still a nightmare to deal with.
The plan remains the same as it was before: Yi goes full glass-cannon and kills both enemies before Taric’s ultimate ever runs out. And if you think you can just go for a tank and outlast the initial burst, you probably haven’t met the new unique item called Hellfire Hatchet.
Best Augments For Master Yi And Taric:
1Brand And Trundle
Trundle is the best champion in Arena and it is not even close. He is the best duelist in the game, and this is a game-mode that forces you into 2v2 duels and buffs his dueling prowess even more.
You could replace Brand with a lot of other CC-heavy champions, but the pyromaniac works very well in Arena himself with a few cheeky augments. The only must-have item is Rylay’s Scepter, just to ensure that no one is running away from the Troll King.
