Summary
Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthosis filled with familiar crops such as potatoes, carrots, eggplant, tomatoes, and more. As you continue to explore this game, more and more unique crops are being discovered. Each crop family has its own varieties, regional and seasonal differences, and even mutations.
A small variety of crop seeds can be purchased in stores, but most will be given as rewards or from the harvest wisps. Some crops, however, have the most lucrative varieties. You’ll need the base crop seed to plant them, which you may track using your DocPad, so you’ll never be without the best seeds.
6Potatoes
There are two base crops here:potatoes and sweet potatoes.you may findsweet potatoes near Herbstburg,in the Golden Hill area. You can get these pretty early in the game, as Herbstburg is the second village to be unlocked.
Potatoes can be found in Lenctenbury, and south of the Herbstburg South Mine, in the Rocky Backroads. Sigelindes are a mutation of potatoes grown in the desert, while long sweet potatoes are a sweet potato mutation grown in the summer. There are 11 recipes that call for the use of potatoes and sweet potatoes out of the over 100 recipes in the Winds of Anthos.
For base (stamina restoration only) recipes, the only crop here that can be used is sweet potatoes to make pie. For hot dishes that restore both stamina and give you a hot effect, you’re able to make stew, truffle soup, mushroom stew, veggie au gratin, macaroni au gratin, truffles au gratin, fish chowder, andvegetable pot-au-feu. Only two recipes call for sweet potatoes for cold (restore stamina and give cold effect) dishes — vichyssoise, and sweet potato gelato.
5Zucchini
Zucchini is a little harder to find, and only has one variation. However, given how much you may profit from squash, the effort of finding and planting zucchini is worth it. A good place to findzucchini is to the east and southeast of Lilikala Village.Unfortuantely, there are no dishes that call for the use of zucchini or squash.
You’re probably better off dedicating a farm to the crop and harvesting as much squash as you can to sell. Doing so will help you reach any financial goals you have to expand your home and barn, which will in turn allow you to bring in more farm animals.
4Carrots
Carrots are a fairly common crop in the game, and grow pretty quickly. You canfind carrot seeds most easily in the Herbstburg region,and on the way toward Zimagrad.Baby carrots are a separate crop, but can also be found in Herbstburg, as well as the Shallow Playground area.
Aqua and black carrots are variations of carrot seeds, but snow carrots are related to baby carrots. These will all require different environments and sets of circumstances to grow. Aqua carrots are best grown in Herbstburg, as they grow in the fall. Black carrots can be grown in the volcanic farm space, near the mine. Snow carrots are best grown in Zimagrad.
Alternatively, you may use the fall, volcanic, and winter fertilizers for aqua, black, and snow carrots, respectively. This will allow you to grow them in other regions, which will be helpful if you do not have the clothing to avoid weather effects, or enough food to restore lost stamina from bad weather.
Carrots cannot be used in any regular or energy dishes. However, they can be used in hot dishes like stews, mushroom stew, and vegetable pot-au-feu, and in cooling salads as a cold dish.
3Pumpkin
Though pumpkins take almost a week to grow, each seed grows three pumpkins (one per six days), giving you a nice and steady amount of money for the season.Pumpkins also have one of the most profitable variations – the giant squash,which sells for a total of 576G. Giant water squash and giant squash can only be grown if the base crop is planted in season, if there is empty space surrounding the crop, and if fertilizer is used.
There is a total of one regular dish (pumpkin pie) and one hot dish (pumpkin potage soup) where this crop can be used. Due to its minimal use in cooking, you might want to think about using this as a retail-only crop.
2Eggplant
Eggplant seeds can be found in theLilikala region, whilelightbulb eggplant seedscan be found in thelost desert area to the east of Anthos. For the amount of money you can make off these crops, they are fairly efficient.
Rock and water eggplants are a variation of lightbulb eggplants, while globe eggplants are a mutation of regular eggplants. Rock and globe eggplants can be grown in the fall, and water eggplants in the summer. There are no regular, cold, or energy dishes that call for eggplants —- it is used in one hot dish (ratatouille).
1Corn
Found in the Anthos region,Corn is one of the most efficient regrowth crops in the game, as it takes four days to grow, and you get three items per growth. The base crop still nets you 132G total, and corn varieties can be used for many things, like stamina, cooking, and making animal feed.
Fodder corn seeds can be found in the areas around Herbstburg and Providence. Profit aside, you’ll likely want to dedicate one of the fields to fodder corn (or grass) so that you have a steady stream of food for your farm animals, otherwise you’ll be spending most of your hard-earned money on animal feed.
Corn cannot be used in any regular or cold dishes. However, it can be used in hot dishes such as corn potage soup, or energy dishes like energy punch. Its minimal use in cooking makes it a crop best used for retail, raw consumption, or animal feed.
