In the asymmetrical horror gameThe Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you get thrown into intricately designed maps to either escape as a Victim, or to capture and kill those Victims as a member of the Slaughter Family. In a bloodthirsty cast of characters, Nancy stands out as a monstrous mother.
Known as Black Nancy by the locals for all the death surrounding her, she has a knack for luring victims to their doom with her traps and womanly intuition. Here is how to get the most use out of Nancy’s playstyle, and some of the best builds you can use.
Nancy Strengths And Weaknesses
Forthe Family, there are threeattributesthat affect how a character plays. Here is how Nancy stands:
Nancy has several good things going for her. With herBlood Harvesting being higher than others, it will help when trying tolevel up Grandpa.
Nancyraised Johnny to be a brutal killer, and whileshe doesn’t deal as much damage as him, she is also able toclose crawl space shutters. Like mother, like son, right? However,Nancy isn’t able to move through crawl spacesor wall gaps, so she has a disadvantage there.
Endurance is one of Nancy’s weaknesses, andshe can often run out of stamina while chasing Victims. Even if she is lucky enough to catch up to them in a chase,she might not have enough stamina for more than a couple attacks.
Nancy’s biggest strengths come from her abilities, which help balance some of her weaknesses.
Nancy Ability And Unique Perks
Nancy’s Ability: Spy
Nancy’s main ability is called Spy.Using Spy allows Nancy to"see" through the eyes of a Victim, revealing their approximate location. Thevision you get is very cloudy, but you’ll be able toidentify the environment around the Victimfor a few seconds.
You’ll level up Nancy’s Spy ability as you play her, and these are theupgrade paths you can choose:

Increases the amount of time your Spy ability is active.

Further increases the amount of time your Spy ability is active.

While using Spy,the vision is much clearer.
Nancy’s Ability: Barbed Wire
Nancy also has the secondary ability toset up barbed wire traps in various locationson a map, such ascrawl spaces or small doorways. If a Victims goes through the trap,they get snared. Theirmovement will be limited until they remove the barbed wire trap.

Nancy’s Unique Perks
Interestingly, Nancy also has11 perksthat are unique to her. Some of these are similar to other characters' unique perks or normal Family perks, but justtailored to Nancy’s abilities.You will be able to findthese Unique Perks on Nancy’s skill tree:
Description
Ding Dong
The bell attached to the strands of barbed wire will ring louder, and its highlight range will be increased.
Give Me More
Nancy’s ability regeneration rate is increased, but stamina regeneration is reduced.
Hey Sissy
Ingesting Sissy’s powder reduces ability cooldown, but adversely causes a few seconds of blurry vision the next time your ability is used.
Barbed wire traps do more damage.
I’ll Kill Them All
After using her ability, Nancy’s damage is increased for 30 seconds.
Not That Easy
Barbed wire will now be more difficult for Victims to remove.
Pins And Needles
Placing a strand of barbed wire has a slight chance to not consume an inventory item.
Attacks have a slight poison effect for several seconds.
Sip Sip Sip
Melee attacks give more blood in your vial, but attack damage is reduced.
Strong Minded
After using her ability, Nancy’s stamina depletion is reduced for 30 seconds.
Wait A Second
Victims who mistakenly get tangled in barbed wire must wait several seconds before removing it. Their teammates can help the remove it right away.
How To Play Nancy
If you don’t havea Sissy on your team, then you should definitelyfocus on collecting blood at the start of the match. Next,start setting up your barbed wire trapsbefore Victims are able to leave the basement.
Whenever you can,close crawl spaces to make it harder for Victims to move around a map.
Throughout a match,always keep an eye on your stamina gauge. Slow down during a chase at times tokeep enough stamina there for melee attackswhen you catch up to a Victim.
Tips For Using Spy
The biggest way to get the most use out of Spy is todeeply understand each of the maps. Make sure you are familiar with the layout ofall the exits on each map, and whatthe surrounding area looks like.

Tips For Using Barbed Wire
LikeCook with his locks, you have alimited supply of barbed wirethat you may place down. If you need to, you can alsoremove a set of barbed wire to add it back to your inventory.
Anyone, Family included, cantrample down barbed wire by walking through it. Pay attention to the wires you have placed previously. If they have been trampled down, you should eitherreset them or remove them so you may place them somewhere else.
You want toput barbed wire at key points where Victims will go. This will help you snare Victims,especially during a chase. Here are several ideas onwhere you may place Nancy’s barbed wires:
Nancy’s House
Trynot to put barbed wire in places that will be frequented by your teammates.This will lead to your teammates eithertrampling your barbed wire, or themfrustratingly having to avoid going through that pathway.
Best Builds For Nancy
Thebest upgrade for Spy is going to be the one that makes the vision you get clearer.Choose this so you have almostno doubt about where a Victimis when you use Spy.
As you startunlocking nodes on your skill tree, you will need tochoose a path that will determine what perks become availablefor Nancy. Since Nancy’sbarbed wire trapsreally are her strength, make sure tohave at least one perk that affects those.
Definitelyadd some attribute points to her Endurance statto make up for its low start. Otherwise,focus on either Savagery or Blood Harvestingnext, depending on your playstyle.
Nancy is also really the only Family member whereit’s viable to put only her Unique Perks in all three perk slots.
