Thankfully, WoW’s addon scene has been thriving for decades now, so there is a seemingly endless list of options available for all tastes.

6Use Leveling Guides
Even If You Are Not In A Rush
Leveling guides might sound like speedrunning tools, especially because a lot of them advertise themselves as exactly that. The thing is, that’s not all you can use them for. Vanilla World of Warcraft can be extremely daunting. You can die easily, higher level quests are sprinkled in the middle of lower level ones, and it can get quite messy.
You can take your time leveling, but having a guide available works as a sort of waypoint in an open world RPG. Just having something telling you where to go in the vast areas of Kalimdor of the Eastern Kingdoms is a must.
5Don’t Be Afraid To Experiment
Get To Know The Classes
Reaching level 25, especially with the previous tools mentioned in this list, is a relatively easy and fast thing to do in Season of Discovery. Use this to your advantage and experiment with different characters, classes and races before making a final decision.
If you’re interested in multiple classes, or even in trying a different faction for your favorite class, go ahead! Get as many runes as you may, try a few different builds out, and you’ll have your main character in no time.
4Buy Items
Don’t Way For Them To Drop
If you come from Retail WoW or from more modernMMOs, you might be used to ignoring most of what the NPCs have to sell you. You shouldn’t do that in Season of Discovery, though! Drops are quite rare outside of dungeons and raids (and even inside them), and the Azeroth merchants actually sell some great items.
Whenever you get to a new town, check your preferred shops and see if they have something that interests you. Alternatively, if you have more time than money to spend, invest into a couple professions and you’ll eventually be crafting great gear.
3Group Up
Don’t Be Afraid To Invite Randoms
Unlike most other online gaming communities, people in World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery are usually pretty nice. Especially in the open-world content, everyone is playing a relaxing game with little to no competition.
If you spot someone doing the same quest you’re doing, killing the same harpies as you, send them an invite, it will make life easier for both of you! You will share XP, but the time you save in killing mobs faster completely makes up for that loss.
2Try Different Rune Builds

If you are a min-maxer, you might’ve started playing Season of Discovery with a guide on your second monitor telling you everything you need to know to get your character to the strongest point it can get. You probably already have your ideal rune build saved and are just waiting to have all three of them.
This is fine, of course, but don’t feel the need to be static with your rune choices. Blizzard made it extremely easy to move things around, even easier than changing Specializations or Talents in Retail WoW, so make use of it. No rune build is perfect for all content.

There are a ton of guides available that will tell you exactly where every rune can be found in Season of Discovery. If you’re following one, this tip won’t really help you. But, if you are staying true to the name of the game and trying to discover things for yourself, this is a crucial thing to do. Pay close attention to anything that seems weird when you are playing the game, especially if players of the same class as you are involved.
You might see a warrior running with a massive banner on his back, or a ghostly white tiger on an island being attacked by hunters. A good rule of thumb to have in SoD is: if it looks cool and weird, it’s probably a way to get a new rune.
