The Gnorp Apologueis a fun clicker and strategy game where you need to use your resources to make your Gnorps more efficient with their damage and collecting. While the game seems simple, it adds tons of layers through upgrades, skill trees, and various buildings that quickly add up and make it more complicated.
Coming up with strategies and knowing the best approaches to progress is the main point of the game. If you find the game challenging and want to make more progress, you’re able to apply beginner tips to help you learn the system. As you do and get a feel for the game, you can make the most of your upgrades and adapt your playstyle to see more success.

Treat The Game Like A Roguelike
Even though the game lets you keep going as long as you want, you should treat it like a roguelike. You can reset the game whenever you feel like it, so if you stop making any significant progress, reset it.
For instance, if your next upgrade costs 10,000 shards, butyou only get 500 a minute, you’ll need to wait 20 minutes. At that point, you may as well restart to try something new.

As a general rule, when you’re new at the game, you shouldaim for an hour run or until you run out of stuff to do. This gives you a personal time limit to avoid wasting time while getting a feel for the game’s mechanics.
Keep Your Damage Above Your Collection Rate
You havetwo main stats to track while playing: your collection rate and your damage. The collection rate lets you know how many shards your units collect in a minute while damage lets you know how much damage you deal.
If your collection rate is higher than your damage, your Gnorps will have less to do, meaning your collection rate will drop.Put more points into your damage to avoid this problem, then slowly increase your collection rate.

If you use Runners as your primary collectors, add more Runners or increase your movement speed if you need a large increase. Go with the carrying capacity to slowly increase it.
End A Run By Collecting Shards
Once you feel like you canno longer progress, you should maximize your collecting. Since your prestige levels depend on how quickly you can collect shards, you’ll want to get as many Mountaineers and Runners as possible.
Before you do that, activate the Delivery Rush ability under The Expressand send any Mountaineers home. Doing so will let the pile build up, get you Zybellium, and make your runners enter a frenzy to further push your collection.

Don’t worry about your collection rate going over your damage, since this is your last push for the prestige. Even if you don’t reach the next level in a couple of minutes, you can restart and try another strategy.
Build An Express, Slam Club, Then House Of Shards
These will be your three most important buildings in the early game: theExpress, Slam Club, and House of Shards.
The Express has runners help you collect shards, so that will cut down on one of the most monotonous tasks, butonly buy one at firstwhile increasing their carrying capacity as needed.

You should then get the Slam Club and put five or so Gnorps into it, so they’ll boost your damage. You can add some points into Jumping and Combo Chance when you feel like it to get your more Shards.
After that, you canbuild the House of Shards, which will lead to more collecting and damageoptions.

Don’t feel overwhelmed with the options in House of Shards: justtake them one at a time and learn what they do.
Have Some Gnorps In Your Reserve
You need Gnorps to increase your collecting and damage, but you don’t want to spend them all. You shouldaim for a five Gnorp reserve when possible, allowing you to place them as you see fit.
Some of the later upgrades get expensive, but they offer some nice benefits. For instance,Additional Housing costs nine Gnorps, 256,000 shards, and a Zybellium, but it will immediately give you more Gnorps than you put into it, making it worth the investment.

Unlocking the second skill tree segment will get you Auto-Housing, which will automatically spend Shards to keep your Gnorps at five.
The same applies for other upgrades, including theUltra Boost for Bombers and the Rock Analysis Lab upgrades.

Stack Effects During Runs
Whenever you start a run, you shouldstack effects to make them as effective as possible. Doing this will teach you new strategies as you focus on them and see how your units synergize.
For instance, once your each your third prestige tier on the skill tree, you canuse fire passives that boost your damageand bring other nice effects. You should focus on fire upgrades, such asusing fire arrows with your archers or adding Fire Breath to your slammers.
During your next run, try another build, like using Bombers, focusing on guns, or even freezing the rock. You can thenbring the best aspects of each strategy togetherduring future runs.
This approach alsokeeps you focused without overwhelming youwith tons of decisions. You can even apply Zybellium upgrades to those areas to see which ones work the best.
Avoid Drones, Mountaineers, And Zygnorps At First
Runners will be your primary collectors, so focus on them for the time-being.Drones, Mountaineers, and Zygnorps also help with collecting, but they impact your runin ways that can be detrimental if you don’t use them correctly.
For instance,Drones collect Shards, but also eat a percentage of them, causing you to lose them. They also get destroyed when a compression event occurs, making them not worth the risk.
Mountaineers push your Shards forward, letting Runners collect them faster, but that can mess up your collect and damage balance. The same applies to Zygnorps while costing you some Zybellium.
It’s better tohold off on these until you’re near the end gamewhen you no longer need to worry about compression events.
Check Your Numbers
Before you reset the game, check your damage and collection rates to see which ones contributed the mostduring a run. For instance, if you find that a Bomber build led to the best results, think of ways you can use them more efficiently.
You should consider the opposite:if a strategy isn’t contributing enough, avoid it for now. You can always try it later with more skill points and Zybellium.
Some people may find the Drones detrimental, but others may love how much they can add to collection without costing as much. The game automaticallyorders them in a box from most to least effective, making it easier to go through information.
Leave The Game Running While You’re Away
If you find yourself with a great build, butall you need is time, use the Screensaver mode.
By pressing S, your game willautomatically run in the background and keep the operations goingwhile you’re away. This lets you get more Shards, wait for a compression event to occur, or anything else you need.
This works great if you want to leave it running over night to have plenty of resources the next day. It’s even better with the prestige tier, Multiplier Growth.
You canuse the Settings in the top right corner to automatically enter Screensave modeonce a certain amount of time passes. That way, you won’t have to worry about your progress if something comes up.
