Eternightsis a short game that is focused on time management and a dating sim, and using these aspects to power up your character in combat. Completing the game will take about ten hours, but if you want to ensure that you get the most out of your time, and don’t have to keep reloading your saves, there is some information you should keep in mind.
Even though the game is relatively short, this does not mean that it is very easy, and the combat can challenge you up until the end, and if you spent your time badly, it might even feel unbeatable. So, what should you know going in?
8Match Your Love Interest To Your Playstyle
Choices Matter
There arefour different love intereststo pick from in Eternights, and you will get the best ending possible if you just commit to one. you’re able to still rank every character up quite far without romancing them, but it is likely that the most skills you unlock will be with the character you choose to romance.
If you are romancing Yuna, you will want to focus your playstyle on using skills; if you are romancing Sia, then your playstyle should be more offensive; and if you are playing Min, then your character is going to get more defense buffs. For Yohan, he is more balanced, so this is less of a concern.
7Hunt Down Hidden Black Essence
Exploration Is Key
The environments in Eternights are relatively linear, and this should make spotting hidden areas easy, but with the creative lighting choices, this can be more challenging than you think. By exploring, you are more likely to find hidden black essence, which you’re able to use to buff the heroes different skills and a few of Yohan’s.
These are the skills that will make your character better in combat, so at least occasionally keeping an eye out when you explore will help you level up your skills a bit faster than usual.
6Chani Isn’t A Love Interest
Limited Bromance
The first character you meet and interact with in Eternights is your character’s best friend Chani. Chani is an incredibly loveable character, and one you will likely grow fond of throughout the game. He even has his own social rank you may level up, but unlike the other characters, this doesn’t go above level five andnever gets romantic.
You have the choice to occasionally flirt with him, but this never goes far, leaving him as the only platonic relationship option. If you are looking for a male romance option, you will unlock the ability to spend time with Yohan at the start of Act 04.
5Dialogue Options Don’t Matter As Much When Flirting
But They Do For Your Stats
If you are used to other dating sims, you are likely very intentional when it comes to romancing your chosen character, but in Eternights this is less of an issue. While certain characters will like certain choices more, the best way to level up your relationship is to spend more time with them.
However, to romance each character, you will need to have level 3 in their specified stat to get them to rank 6, and level 4 to get them to rank 7. The dialogue options affect these stats, so this is where you should be paying more attention.
4Use Time Strategically
Time Management Is Key
One of the most distinct features of Eternights is the time management system that dictates how much time you have to spend with each character and buff yourself before taking on the dungeons and enemies that the game throws at you.
You will want to spend this time strategically, as it will directly impact how effectively you can level up certain skills and romance different characters. If you are planning to romance Yohan, we recommend focusing on working towards the skills you want to unlock in Act 02, and Act 03 since he is not available until Act 04.
3Level Up Yuna’s Healing
And SP Buffs Too
Even if you don’t want Yuna to be your romance choice, she still has some of the most useful abilities, with most of her skill trees being focused on healing. You will want to level up her abilities early on so you will always have health, since certain areas of the game can be quite unforgiving with checkpoints when you die.
To ensure that Yuna is able to heal effectively, you will also want to buff your SP when possible, since this will make it so Yuna can use more of her healing spells with your finite amount of SP. While other abilities are useful, at least verify Yuna’s healing is passable.
2Use Chani’s Services
Supplement Your Personality
When reaching Act 04, you will likely get to the point where you are able to romance the characters you have been forming relationships with up until this point. This is where the social stats you have been working on will finally pay off, but if you didn’t know this, you might find yourself lacking.
Yuna wants expression, Sia needs acceptance, Min requires confidence, and Yohan values courage, and for each character, to at least get them to rank 6, you will need level 3 of each stat. If you are behind, you can spend time with Chani, getting six points of your required stat per session with him.
1Attempt The Dungeon Early
Level Up Stats If Needed
If you want to have a less stressful experience with Eternights, it is recommended to at least attempt thedungeon and its bossas soon as you unlock it, as this will ensure that you know what you are up against, and if you beat it on the first day, then this means that you can relax and spend the rest of the alotted time prioritizing your relationships and boosting the stats that you need.
Of course, this might mean you end up struggling on certain sections, but if you try the dungeon early, then you have the freedom to level up the stats and abilities that you need, and then try the dungeon closer to the due date.
