PlayingBaldur’s Gate 3on Xbox is a bit risky right now. You might lose your entire save file at the drop of a hat, despiteLarian Studios' attempts to fix the issue. That’s because it’s a firmware problem to do with the console itself, meaning that Microsoft is the one who has to sort it out. Luckily, a fix is imminent.
Hotfix number 16 was just released, tidying up a litany of bugs and making Cazador harder… again. While there’s still no mention of the save wipes on Xbox,Vincke quote retweeted the patch notesto update players on the whole losing-your-progress problem, revealing that Microsoft has finally identified the cause.
Sizeable hotfix to kick off the new year. Also got good news from Xbox - they found the firmware issue that could cause save games to go missing and a fix is incoming. In the end, all will be well.
It’s been nearly a month since the save wipe glitch first cropped up, and just over a month sinceBaldur’s Gate 3 was shadowdropped on Xbox. While it has proven a major roadblock for many trying to get into the game (including our own Features Editor Tessa Kaur), there is a workaround to ensure you don’t lose hours of hard work and adventuring.
You need to create a Larian account and log in on your Xbox. Once that’s done, enable cross-platform savesin Baldur’s Gate 3 and your progress will be stored in the cloud. That means that, if Xbox accidentally wipes your campaign, you can recover it and keep chugging along. You don’t need Baldur’s Gate 3 on PlayStation or PC for this to work - just enabling the option will do it.
It’s not the only problem plaguing Xbox players trying to save the Sword Coast from gruff daddies and writhing tentacles. People have beengetting banned for taking screenshots and recording videos of romance scenes. So, if you wanna document your night with Shadowheart after dark, you run the risk of having your account suspended.
Xbox is allowing people to appeal these bans, but it has warned that, in future, you should turn off automatic uploading. Every screenshot you take (and video you record) is sent straight to the cloud so you may access it on other devices, but this library has its own safety and content policies. Raunchy scenes go against those policies, and so uploading risque shots might get you banned.
Basically, if you’re on Xbox, turn off automatic uploading and turn on cross-platform saves. That way, you won’t lose your campaign or get your account suspended.
