Baldur’s Gate 3’s Act 3 bosses don’t mess around. Being max level helps, but even then, they’re often kitted out with unique abilities that you’ve never had to strategize around before. Cazador is no exception, with his vampire abilities, making him one of the toughest bosses in the game.

Now, he’s even more difficult to take down. The latest Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix gives the would-be vampire ascendant new abilities as he progresses through the ritual, making him progressively harder to beat as the fight goes on. He’s also been buffed significantly in Honour Mode, making it easier for him to end your playthrough for good.

This comes from thepatch notesfor Baldur’s Gate 3 hotfix #16, which has made changes to how Cazador fights in both Tactician difficulty and Honour Mode. Now, when playing on the hardest difficulty (both with and without Honour Mode), Cazador gets a new mist form with Necrotic Aura. This inflicts damage on anyone who gets too close making your positioning on the map all the more important.

On Honour Mode, you’ll have to deal with this too, with the added bonus of navigating his new Legendary Action. These actions don’t appear in other game modes and further differentiate bosses from typical enemies. They’re triggered under certain conditions, which often mean they’ll be used on your turn, because bosses don’t have to abide by the rules of turn-based combat, apparently.

As for Cazador’s new Legendary Action, he now has three different variations of the move, depending on how far into the ritual he is. Unsurprisingly, the effects will become more devastating the closer he is to becoming the vampire ascendant. The more charges he has will also make his vampire swarm more dangerous, so you’ll want to try and kill him quickly. Of course, you may also opt to interrupt the ritual instead, either by freeing Astarion or killing one of the vampire spawn involved.

This isn’t the first time thatLarianhas played around with the Cazador fight. A previous updatestopped us from being able to push him to his death. As the patch notes put it, Cazador “suddenly remembered he can turn into mist and fly”. He’s no fun.
