Some players who thought that the recent update would fix the issue have been left disappointed, reporting further save erasures since trying to start their campaigns again. In the meantime, Xbox has offered suggestions on how players can keep their saved progress safe, and it involves keeping your Xbox powered at all times, even when it’s switched off.

“Just to update you on the Xbox saves issue, we’re working with Microsoft on a second fix that should hopefully solve it,” says Michael Douse, director of publishing at Larian. “It’s looking optimistic. Not as simple as just patching the game itself, so kudos to the green team for being so on top.”

Douse also shared anarticlefrom Xbox, detailing how players can take steps to protect the saves they already have if they haven’t been affected by the issue yet. These fixes are:

Hopefully, once Microsoft rolls out whatever fix it needs to, Xbox players won’t have their progress interrupted - or even erased entirely - any more. They’ve waited long enough to start their own campaigns, with the Xbox port coming months after the initial releases onPCandPlayStation 5. The game has cross-save functionality, if you’re one of those people who likes to pick up a game on multiple platforms, but given the ongoing issues with Xbox, you might want to steer clear of that feature for the time being.
