Baldur’s Gate 3is a game that revolves around luck. Sure, you can perform all kinds of tricks and gimmicks to improve your chances at succeeding at something, but you still need to have a good dice roll for pretty much everything, whether that be bludgeoning an enemy to death with a mace or hopping into bed with one of your companions.

Some days it can feel like the RNG overlords are against you though, as is the case with one of Baldur’s Gate 3 streamer Luality’s more recent sessions, in which she managed to roll four critical failures in a row when attempting to open a safe (thanksDexerto). You can watch the truly impressive run of bad luck in the video embedded below.

The first critical failure is pretty crappy, but Luality picks herself back up and attempts to unlock the safe again. It happens to everyone, isn’t a big deal, and what are the chances of it happening twice in a row?

Pretty high apparently, as Luality rolls yet another critical fail, looking at the screen in disbelief as the odds of rolling two critical fails pop up on the screen. The third critical fail gets much more of a reaction, as Luality is flabbergasted by her bad luck, lays herself down on the ground, and takes it as a sign that the game is “telling me to move on”. I think the game is telling you to turn your Karmic Dice back on.

Wait, did I just roll a critical one three times in a row?! I think the game is telling me to move on.

Undeterred by her bad luck streak, Luality attempts to open the safe a fourth time, only to be met with yet another critical fail, which apparently only has a 1 in 160,000 chance of happening. She then understandably assumes her game is bugged, before rolling a 12 that must feel like a 20 at this point in the stream.

Then again, Luality is probably used to a challenge now, given that she’s renowned on YouTube and Twitch for making the impossible seem possible. Just last month, she began making a mockery out of almost every boss in Baldur’s Gate 3,systematically beating them all in a single turn through the power of dice rolls and critical hits. Who knew that simply opening a safe would be the most difficult undertaking that Luality has ever attempted though? That’s classic Baldur’s Gate 3 for you though.
