Baldur’s Gate 3’s principal narrative designer, Lawrence Schick, has claimed that both the game’s players and developers are going to be discovering new things for “years”.

As you’d expect from our 2023 Game of the Year winner, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a triumph in almost every sense of the word. From its characters and combat to its RPG mechanics and overall narrative, there isn’t a single thing that Larian’s latest game doesn’t do right. Perhaps the most impressive element of Baldur’s Gate 3 isjust how full of surprises, exploits, and little moments it is, something that players have been discovering throughout 2023.

With interesting Baldur’s Gate 3 details and outcomes being discovered nearly every day, you might think that we’ve nearly tapped the well for Baldur’s Gate 3, but that doesn’t seem like it’s anywhere close to happening. As part of a feature on Baldur’s Gate 3 winning Game of the Year, Inverse chatted to the game’s principal narrative designer, Lawrence Schick, who discussed how much players have been uncovering.

While talking about Baldur’s Gate 3’s wealth of hidden details, Schick said that it’s largely due to how many different factors are in play at any given moment in the game and that the surprises often come from how they interact with each other. He also said that, even with so much being found and shared by players, he doesn’t think that they’re going to run out any time soon and should be discovering stuff for “years”.

My personal favourite little detail that players have found in Baldur’s Gate 3 is abit of lore that reveals far too much about how Dragonborn privates work. Classic.

Shick said, “Every stone will not be turned for years because so much of the game is a concatenation of unlikely variables. There’s stuff that people will be discovering, including us, because of the way it was built, with synergies, and layers, and interacting reactivity. It astounds us, the stuff that comes up.”

That’s quite a bold claim for such a popular game that nearly everybody has been playing this year, but it’s one that rings true considering just how many options players are given at pretty much any given moment. Considering how many memorable moments have already been uncovered already, I think I speak for all fans and say that we’re here for it.
