Antony Starr says he was open to voicing Homelander inMortal Kombat 1, after it was confirmed thatthe actor will not be reprising his role for the game’s DLC. Responding to a disappointed fan, Starr says, “I was open to it”, making his absence in the game all the more baffling.

Some fans speculate that this means it was either a scheduling issue orWarner Bros.wouldn’t foot the bill that Starr’s team was asking for. Either way, we still don’t know who will be playing Homelander in his absence, asNetherRealmhasn’t commented on the situation at all.

This comment from Starr was spotted by Reddit user plainviewist, and shows that the actor didn’t back out of playing Homelander because he didn’t want to be in Mortal Kombat 1. Starr hasn’t replied to any other comments on the matter, so it’s not clear why exactly he isn’t playing the character in the game.

The situation has come as a great disappointment to fans, particularly as the other guest fighters, Omni-Man and Peacemaker, are voiced by their original actors, J.K. Simmons and John Cena respectively. To add insult to injury, Starrdidportray Homelander inCall of Duty, so it’s not like he’s opposed to doing video game work.

There is, of course, the outside chance that Starr is just trolling us here since NertherRealm hasn’t confirmed anything. Either that, or he’s unable to confirm his involvement right now.

In any case, we can safely assume Homelander will be the last guest fighter added in the first wave of DLC.The gameplay trailer for Quan Chigave us our first look at Peacemaker at the very end, likely meaning he’ll join the fight next. Then, if the current running order continues, we’ll probably get a returningMortal Kombatfighter afterwards, then leaving room for Homelander’s addition to the game.

Other than this, we can’t really guess which returning fighter will be next, but that’s between Takeda and Ermac right now. The latter would make more sense since he’s very relevant to the game’s story mode, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be added before the kombat kid. We’ll have to see who gets announced first.

Quan Chi will be added to the game on December 14, so the gap between characters isn’t going to be too long. The next Kameo fighter, Khameleon, was also shown off in the Quan Chi trailer, but won’t join the game until January.
