How Does Gifting Work?
Like most slice-of-life games, you canearn additional relationship pointswith your favorite townsfolk in My Time at Sandrock by offering themgifts they love or liketo receive.
Each character has aunique set of giftsthat they’ll enjoy more than others, and their list of preferences is informed by theircareer, hobbies, and friendshipsyou see them engaging in around town.
It’s important to note thatnot all characters have the same number of gifts they like. Certain characters can be quite picky, so you’ll need to learn personalities quickly in Sandrock.
Gifts grantaffinity pointswith each character, and every gift will give youbetween one and 20 affinity points, withdisliked giftsdockingrelationship pointsinstead of building them. You can immediately see how many on the side of your screen.
When choosing which gifts to give to your new friends in My Time at Sandrock, you’ll be able to offer them an item from one of several categories:
To give a gift,speak to the characteryou’re trying to get closer to and select thepresent iconon the social bar. This willopen your inventory, allowing you tochoose a gift you have on handto give to your friends from a list ofanything highlightedin your bag.
After you’ve given a gift to a character for the first time, if they have a strong preference for it, you can see it in their info on the Relationship tab.
Regardless of which character you’re gifting,gifts fall into six categoriesbased on how much each character enjoys them. The six affinities are:
The point values you receive in-game may be higher than the numbers in this guide, depending on how you’ve spent yourSocial Knowledge Points.
The majority of items, however, will fall into aneutral category, which offer onlyone affinity pointwhen gifted.
However,don’t give the same gift too many times in a row. The characters will still thank you for it, but they’ll call you out on giving them the same thing, andloved and liked gifts are less effectivewhen given too many times in a row.
