The Sims 4: My First Pet Stuffis a unique pack in that it requires The Sims 4: Cats & Dogs expansion to be installed to take full advantage of all its contents, something no other DLC has repeated. Several items in the pack were also designed to match with those in the pet-themed expansion. This means it can get very confusing to work out which items are included, and how many are accessible if you don’t have the expansion.

All Base Game Compatible Build Buy Items
The following items areusable without Cats & Dogs,although the children’s furniture in particular is designed to match with some items included in the expansion, namely a bed and dresser.
Thesmall mammal enclosures come with an animal, and you can choose from a hamster, a rat, a pygmy hedgehog or a bubalus dwarf - which is a voidcritter. Each cage has identical swatches, just the small pet inside differs. You caninteract with the animals in live mode.

Thesmall animals are the main featureof this pack in relation to gameplay and there arefour different types to choose from. You will need tokeep them clean and fedin order to build a relationship with them. If they like you, then you’re able to interact with them. A couple even holdsome secretswhich you’ll discover if you treat them well andbuild up your relationship.However, beware the neglected animal as they caninfect you with a fatal diseasewhich can also be passed onto other household members.
