Summary

Pokemon Scarlet & Violetoriginally had 400 Pokemon regionally available when it launched. But that number has grown by over 200 thanks to both the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk DLC. But of all the returning Pokemon to the Indigo Disk, which ones are the best?

Everyone has their favorite Pokemon. They even havethe Pokemon they like to use the most in competitive play. So, when you ask someone who the best returning Pokemon are, you’re bound to get endlessly different answers. So, who are the best Pokemon coming back home to the Indigo Disk? Look no further; the answers are here.

This list excludes Legendary Pokemon and Starter Pokemon. If it didn’t, everyone would just be asking where “x” favorite starter is until the Miltanks came home.

10Joltik And Galvantula

For The Jumps And The Jolts.

Galvantula, on the other hand, is a super cool Pokemon. After going through a pretty significant growth spurt, they get pretty good stats and don’t suffer from the ground weakness most Electric-types do. Just ignore the Rock and Fire weakness.

9Alcremie

Available In Over 60 Combinations.

Alcremie returns to the Indigo Disk after being a show-stopper inPokemon Sword & Shield. Not only did they have an amazing GMax form that turned them into the ice cream cake of food lovers' dreams, but they had nine different “flavors” and over 60 combinations thanks to their stunning sweet toppings.

You can choose whichever flavor and topping to make Alcremie match your style or, yes, taste. Anytime you can customize a Pokemon so much is a good time.

8Skarmory

The Sharp Steel Bird Is Back

Skarmory is rad. Period. This Generation Two Steel and Flying-Type Pokemon was an instant hit thanks to its design and the fact that the Steel-Type was newly introduced. And all these years later, that design has held up wonderfully.

How is that? It is one of only three Steel and Flying-Types to exist. Although it has a weakness to fire and electricity, it makes up for it by having no fewer than ten resistances, two of those actually making it so they take no damage at all. This slick and stylish Pokemon deserves to be in every Pokemon game that ever launches. So, of course, they’re going to be one of the best Pokemon returning to the Indigo Disk DLC.

7Espurr And Meowstic

Yes, The Scary, Staring Cats.

There is meme upon meme about Espurr, but if you don’t like them, you are weak! Not really, but it’s great to have Espurr and Meowstic back. The Scarlet & Violet Pokedex felt hollow without them.

Similar to Joltik and Gavantula, these two have very different reasons for being great additions to the Indigo Disk. Espurr will no doubt rekindle the jokes about their blank stare and pink irises. Meanwhile, Meowstic is a very fast Psychic-Type Pokemon that can either help set up for your Pokemon team or can be trained into a pretty powerful Special Attacker.

6Lanturn

The Best Of Both Water And Electric Worlds.

Lanturn is a beautiful Pokemon with a simple design. This Pokemon may not seem like much without any context, but they’ve been a popular Nuzlocke companion thanks to their Volt Absorb ability that allows them to actually heal from Electric-Type attacks.

If that’s not your style, they also have the hidden ability Water Absorb. Regardless, this makes them not only pretty but also a versatile addition to many teams. If you haven’t, you should give them a try.

5Metagross

No One’s Surprised They Made The Cut.

Metagross is one of only two pseudo-legendary Pokemon that is not a Dragon-Type. The other one is Tyranitar, who was available in Pokemon Scarlet when it launched. Maybe it was only a matter of time, but it’s good that time came along.

Metagross is just a really amazing Pokemon, no matter how you look at them. Design-wise, they look menacing and incredibly strong. Stat-wise, because of their near-legendary status, they have a high 600 in base stats. That’s before any additional training is done. Typing-wise, although they lean toward being an Attacker, with that Psychic-Typing, you could train them to be a Special Attacker or teach them Zen Headbutt to make use of that high Attack.

4Kingdra

That’s One Cool Seahorse.

Kingdra hasn’t been in every Pokemon game since they were introduced, and that is a crime. They’re literally called The Dragon Pokemon, and they have the looks to match.

Their stats are solid all around. But who cares about stats when the Pokemon in question looks like an ancient, awe-inspiring being that surfaced from a long slumber to help your trainer fight these other kids for their lunch money?

3Lapras

The Best Ice Monarch.

Lapras is still one of the most mystical Pokemon. A mainstay in the games, in the Anime, and seen in other titles, Lapras is even used inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateto surf across water toward the next challenge in World of Light.

Lapras is even in Pokemon Unite, fighting up against the likes of Mewtwo and Zeraora, legendaries and mythicals. This Pokemon has staying power and thus is one of the best to return to the Indigo Disk. After all, does anyone dislike Lapras? There’s no good reason to.

2Alolan Ninetails

Fire Turned Ice.

Alolan Ninetails was such a pleasant surprise when regional Pokemon were first introduced inPokemon Sun & Moon. They took an already beautiful design and somehow improved it. How can you take a Pokemon that was already perfect and make them more ethereal and mystical? The creative team figured it out.

They have been popular since Sun & Moon and are a welcome addition to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, charming everyone once again. But it’s not just about looks. The Ice and Fairy-Typing of Alolan Ninetails make them an absolute beast when thrown out against Dragon-Type Pokemon.

1Zebstrika

Long Live The King (Or Queen).

Zebstrika has not been in a game since Pokemon Black 2 & White 2. It was over a decade that fans of this Zebra-based Pokemon had to wait, quietly biding their time. This fierce and fast Thunderbolt Pokemon is once again able to run alongside its trainers and speed across the Blueberry Academy grounds.

You can easily honor this Pokemon’s return by catching one for yourself and using it in at least a few battles. After all, they are a fast Electric-Type and depending on which ability you have on them, they either power themselves up when hit by Electric moves or eat up Grass-Type moves, healing from them instead of taking damage.
